Written Pieces

A lot of my written work pertains to the adjustment to COVID and quarantine, which is when I really had the most time and opportunity to diversify my portfolio. I find written stories to be the most attainable mean of distributing information when on a time crunch, but there is also a beauty and nuance to the written word that I appreciate deeply.

This piece will be showcased in our newly-revived EQUUS magazine. This is one of my most recent pieces. In the process of making this piece, I was incredibly cautious to avoid bias; even to the point that I went through the piece and highlighted positive and negative tone phrases, and screened them for bias, then had my peer, Raelyn, review it.

This story was my first ever written news story. Pre-quarantine, I had been fairly set in only broadcast journalism, but faced with time and communication issues, I found writing to be an extremely useful tool to disseminate news.

This piece was one of my first explorations into op-ed/analytical writing, another opportunity presented to me in quarantine. This analytical style of writing taught me how to more deeply comprehend the storytelling of others, thus, providing me to the tools to emulate and improve my own storytelling as well.
