Hi There,

I'm Tashi Mathuin

You're the girl who does CHS Wired, right?

You betcha.

I’m the Director of CHS Wired; Cody High'School's 27-minute, semi-monthly, student-led broadcast news production.

I have spent the last four years of my high school career in the Cody High Journalism program. I plan to pursue a major in either Broadcast Journalism or Film in college.

Since my freshman year, there hasn't been a day where I haven't held a camera, touched an editing setup, or written a lead. I've thrown myself wholeheartedly into student journalism. In my time at CHS, I've taken every class offered on our Televison/Audio-Visual CTE track; this includes Mass Communications, CHS Wired (several levels, Intro through Capstone Leadership,) Photography, Film Appreciation, and this trimester, Adobe certification. I am an ACA Certified Associate in Digital Video using Adobe Premiere.

I've had amazing opportunities, one of my foremost being my work with PBS Student Reporting Labs. I was part of the 2020 Academy, as well as having worked on several other projects with them and having had my work featured nationally on NewsHour during the 2020 Democratic Debate.

Ultimately, I plan to make documentaries that highlight issues facing those around me and around the world. I want to tell stories that impact people. I want to tell stories that stay with a person throughout their day, then keep them up through the night. Having stories that stick with people, I believe, is the best way to bring attention to injustice, awareness to otherwise silent catastrophe, and simply provide a voice to those who are silenced by the world around them. Being from Wyoming, we often find our voices silenced whether it be by the perceptions of us from other states, our lack of media outlets/coverage, and our generally sparse population.

When I'm not posted at my editing station, surrounded by empty coffee mugs  (I don't like to use paper cups. Save a tree, am I right?) on an early morning or late-night deadline; I also enjoy photography, tennis, figure skating, participate in several school clubs such as the Teen Leadership Council and Youth for Justice, and work at my local ice arena.
